Zac Efron is a Real ‘Firestarter’ in Over 20 Images from Peacock’s Stephen King Movie
Coming to theaters as well as the Peacock streaming service on May 13, the latest Stephen King re-adaptation is Firestarter, courtesy of Universal, Blumhouse and director Keith Thomas (The Vigil). The film’s image gallery has been set ablaze today, providing us with over 20 shots of the feature film starring Zac Efron and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
In Firestarter, “A young girl develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.”
Oh and by the way, the Firestarter score is composed by the legendary John Carpenter (Halloween, Christine, The Fog) and his fellow Halloween franchise composers Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. This is especially cool considering Carpenter was originally going to direct the 1980s version of Firestarter, but ultimately departed the project!
Ryan Kiera Armstrong (IT Chapter Two, “American Horror Story”) is playing Charlie in the new Stephen King remake, and Sydney Lemmon will be playing Charlie’s mother.
Zac Efron (Extremely Wicked), Michael Greyeyes (Blood Quantum), and Gloria Reuben (Lincoln, “Mr. Robot”) also star in Firestarter. Efron is playing the father of Charlie.
The film also stars Kurtwood Smith (Amityville: The Awakening, Hitchcock) and John Beasley (The Purge: Anarchy, The Sum of All Fears).
Firestarter has been adapted by writer Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, Rectify). The new movie hails from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions and Weed Road Productions.
Jason Blum and Academy Award® winner Akiva Goldsman will produce. The late Martha De Laurentiis, who was an associate producer on the 1984 adaptation of Firestarter starring a young Drew Barrymore, executive produces the brand new movie. Firestarter reunites Goldsman and Blum, who have previously collaborated on the Paranormal Activity franchise.

‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’ – First Image from ‘Poohniverse’ Horror Movie
The filmmakers behind Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey are expanding their public domain horror universe with a handful of upcoming “Poohniverse” movies, including Bambi: The Reckoning, Pinocchio: Unstrung, and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare.
Variety has scored the first image from Neverland Nightmare, seen above.
The website details, “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare follows Wendy Darling as she strikes out in an attempt to rescue her brother Michael from ‘the clutches of the evil Peter Pan.’ Along the way she meets Tinkerbell, who in this twisted version of the story will be seen taking heroine, convinced that it’s pixie dust.”
Scott Jeffrey will direct Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, expected Halloween 2024.
Jeffrey tells us, “I am taking inspiration from French cinema while in prep for this movie. The film will be incredibly tense. I would say it’s a mesh between Switchblade Romance and The Black Phone with our own spin on it. It is a nasty, violent and incredibly dark movie.”
Megan Placito has joined the cast as Wendy Darling, Kit Green is Tinkerbell, Peter DeSouza-Feighoney (The Pope’s Exorcist) is Michael Darling and Charity Kase (RuPaul Drag Race) is James. Martin Portlock will be playing the twisted version of Peter Pan.
Created by J.M. Barrie way back in 1902, the character of Peter Pan – like Winnie the Pooh – is in the public domain, even if the iconic Disney iteration of the character is very much not.
